How Safe is Aluminum Wiring

Aluminum Wiring is safe as long as you have proper connections and you do not overload it.

In either of the above situations what happens is that the wire overheats. and therefore causes rapid oxidation and conductivity changes. For non-electricians it means connections go bad. and it gets hotter than normal because of those bad connections.

Aluminum Wire in itself is not the Problem. You see it in use everyday of your life.
It s used on practically all Houston Power Lines and Power Line Drop coming to your house. or business. even underground.

Joke: How many power lines have you seen catch on fire because of aluminum wire.

The problems with aluminum wire are limited to older houses which were wired with #12 .#14 Aluminum Wire. and its not with the wire itself but the connections and over-usage (See Overload)
